The intention of this site initially was to provide a forum pertaining to a variety of topics. The main feature was the Disqus commenting program, which at the time I created this site was the best comment program I’d seen in terms of tracking conversations and accessibility. Disqus has since made several “upgrades”, which are actually downgrades as it pertains to tracking conversations and accessibility. So with Disqus morphing into “just another comment section” no better than any other, and a lukewarm following, this site is for the most part inactive in terms of new posts.

I’m leaving this site up as you may find some of the existing posts entertaining. Please check ‘em out and feel free to comment – Disqus still works, just not in the way it used to. Please refer to the index tabs at the top of this page for links to the various posts.

THE NBA’S BEST OF THE REST

In 1996, a panel of media members and former players, coaches and general managers compiled a list of the top 50 NBA players in history. (NBA.com)

What we’re looking for here is two-part:

1- The best pre-1997 players who did not make the list.

Example : Reggie Miller, Bob Lanier, Dominique Wilkins, Bernard King

2- Your candidates for a revised list that would include post-1997 players; AND who you would bump from the original list to make room.

Example: Kobe and Lebron in; Pippen and Parish out.

I’d like to make one stipulation, though. Keep it in the spirit of the list’s intention. We all know that players are bigger and stronger today than they were 50 years ago. There may be guys on the bench today that are more talented than Bob Cousy. So consider the player only for his value in his own era.

                      NFL’S GREATEST PLAYERS BY POSITION

The Top 100: NFL’s Greatest Players was compiled in 2010 by the NFL Network. The list is ranked in order based on the opinions of a panel of former players, historians, scouts, team executives and writers. (Full list – NFL.com)

I try not to editorialize in the body of these posts - I’ll leave that to joeseddit in the comment section – so I won’t get into the reasons why it’s ridiculous to submit a wide receiver (Jerry Rice) as the all-time best player. But I will point out that the “apples to oranges” cliché comes into play here. It’s difficult and excessively subjective to compare say, a cornerback to an offensive lineman, when trying to determine the better football player. So what I’m gonna do here is sort the list by position and leave the various positions up for debate. I’m also excluding the players that didn’t play in the past 50 years.
